Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer role is responsible for the identification and elimination of waste in the production process so that quality, manufacturing flexibility, and throughput along with operating costs are continually improved.  Additionally this role is responsible for the implementation of new equipment and processes to support the growth and improvement for fabrication and welding processes by the following:

  • Applies economy of motion and time study techniques to create effective line balances.
  • Uses problem-solving techniques (8D) to determine root cause, countermeasures, permanent and preventative corrective actions.
  • Trains Manufacturing Supervisors and Lead employees in methods for setup, operation, and maintenance of new equipment and for performance of new manual operations.
  • Designs mistake proofing devices where required to control quality at the source.
  • Reduces changeover times by designing quick changeover devices.
  • Utilizes PDCA cycle to drive continuous improvement, thru Kaizen.
  • Utilizes process FMEAs and control plans as part of APQP to document risks, controls, actions taken and lessons learned to minimize identified risks.
  • Reviews workstations and manual tasks to identify adverse ergonomic practices and installs improvements to achieve the reduction of fatigue, errors or unsafe acts.
  • Drives development and implementation of emerging technologies.
  • Identifies and leads elimination of waste throughout assigned operations.
  • Documents processes in a clear and concise manner to create requirements for reliable and repeatable standard work considering SIPOC.
  • Applies ergonomic principles to all new and changing operations to improve UniCarriers safety performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 months manufacturing engineering experience OR Internaship in a company related to parts or components manufacturing
