Job Description for the Test Engineer

UniCarriers Americas Corporation is a leading forklift manufacturer in a position of growth over the next 8 years. Be a part of this exciting time by joining the team and contributing to our goals.

The Test Engineer is Responsible for performing testing and documenting results for new designs, current models, modification requests, and cost savings proposals.


Test Engineer Job Responsibilities

  • Create/design basic mechanic, electric, hydraulic, or software test setups. Requisition necessary equipment and materials as required. Guide construction of test fixtures. Perform truck level, subsystem, or component testing.
  • Accurately document test conditions. Collect measurement data (analog, digital, etc.). Analyze data and format (tables, graphs, etc.).
  • Able to identify, document, and communicate potential design issues.
  • Write, maintain, and organize test reports and other lab documentation.
  • Responsible for writing and maintaining test procedures.
  • Learn functions of sensors and specialized test equipment and gain proficiency in operation. Basic knowledge of voltage, current, pressure, force, temperature, strain, etc.
  • Some familiarity with UCA's forklift models, and strives to continue learning. Learns how to operate available forklift models.
  • Some familiarity with forklift industry test standards and regulations.
  • Assists in customer demonstrations.
  • Occasionally travels to field sites to perform duties (field issue, observing duty cycles, etc.).


Job Requirements for the Test Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a test lab environment preferred
  • Must understand testing processes and a demonstrated mechanical or electrical aptitude.  
  • A demonstrated mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic aptitude.
  • Ability to be flexible (changing priorities), hands-on, analytical and intuitive.
